Chamber History

The Chamber emerged as a community business group in December 1991. It was the creation of the Bangladeshi-British business community with the following aims:

-to promote, protect and strengthen bi-lateral trade and commerce between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom and between them and the European Community;

-to promote investment, joint ventures, research and development in both countries;

-to maintain close ties with traders both in the United Kingdom and in Bangladesh, including the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry and relevant government ministries.

The Chamber has operated as a networking business hub for the community and for British companies with interests in Bangladesh. It has organised a number of trade and investment meetings and meetings with Ministers of both countries, including the Home Secretary of the UK and the then Prime Minister of Bangladesh. BBCC has also organised business and investment seminars.

The Bangladesh-British Chamber is keen to welcome new members from the business community across the UK. This will both help them and help foster still better trade and investment between the two countries to the benefit of employment and prosperity in both of them.
